COMMERCIAL FLORTICULTURE SURVEY: GROWER RESPONSES NEEDED
The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service again has funding to prepare an annual Floriculture Crops Summary report (after several years lapse in the survey). The information is valuable to producers to help learn industry sales and pricing trends. Good survey results depend on a high percentage of the industry reporting. The survey is being mailed out to commercial floriculture growers the week of Dec. 10 and reporting is due before Feb. 8. More information is available at https://safnow.org/commercial-floriculture-survey-responses-needed.

2024 GLASE SHORT COURSE
Greenhouse Lighting and Systems Engineering (GLASE) is hosting a 6-module online short course April 4 through May 9 on Advances in Greenhouse Coverings, Curtains, and Supplemental Lighting.
High-performance greenhouse coverings, curtains, and supplemental lighting help growers cultivate specialty crops (fruits, vegetables, and floriculture crops) year-round in any location. Energy is the second highest operational expense behind labor costs. In this 6-week modular course, learn about all aspects of climate controls in greenhouses and indoor farms. Modules will focus on greenhouse coverings, thermal and shade curtains, LED horticultural lighting, and controls for system automation.
Industry experts will help you understand how greenhouse growers can use agricultural technology to drive higher yields and lower energy use and manage the interactive effects between coverings, curtains, and lighting that play a role in plant growth and development. By the end of this virtual course, participants will be able to make informed decisions about maintaining optimal growing conditions and minimizing energy bills.
